Tyree Phonape Birdnest

Has anyone seen frags of this available in the DFW area? The coral seems to be losing it's rarity, so I have to think it's pretty a hardy SPS. I'm also thinking since it's the normal Seritapora and should grow fast. Anyone have expierence with this coral?

Thanks,
Bill

Hey Bill,

PM member derek4real, he also had some frag's of this recently. The frag I got from him has colored up rather nicely and has started showing growth tip's.

Cheers,

Yup, its pretty common these days. I saw dereks frags when they went up for sale and they were nice frags. The coral itself has always been hardy and prefers moderate light and flow for best coloration. It seems to be one of those corals that does really well in a variety of tanks and lighting conditions, but the real vivid coloration seems to come from heavier blue lighting setups. Just make sure you have a reasonable amount of flow around the base for these as the bases will die off or bleach out if it gets choked off with growth.

Bill,
Here's a pic of my frag that I got from Derek.

Can't see the pic... But I believe he has a Tubs Birdsnest like this one.

I'll try to get a pic of mine in the coming days, pretty sure it's the Tyree - I got it from a pretty reputable guy on RC. It's green-yellow branches with hot pink tips just like blide's pic. I'll see if I can get a few frags made, mine's been growing pretty decently.
