Currently, there is a 5 page discussion about this device, and the cost is about $500 or so, when it finally is availble here in America. Still, it can really move some water.]

[i'd have to keep a stock of dramamine if i had one of those....

awesome. i wonder if its the same operating principle as used in the big waterparks.]

[Did you read Roger's comments on Page 5? It can move 25,000gph with 30w of power. :cool grin:

I don't know the internals of it, but it is amazing. One thing Roger stated was that it would reduce tank life by 20%, if I recall correctly... must be the constant stress on the glass.

I would have to run the tank with a strip across the front so the surface wasn't visible.]

[lol I thought of this a few weeks ago, tiping a cheap lighter on its side waching the fluid rock back an forth saying...I could do this in a tank!! but how lol

I wonder how hard it would be to build a unit like this. All you need is a HOB box, a very high volume pump, a large exit return, and a relay and timer you can adjust and set to fire every x seconds, eventually you'd get the right timing for your tank I'd think...may be noisy I guess. Dunno maybe theres a lot more to it but it doesn't seem like it. Can't wait til people get ahold of some to see whats in em :D WTB broken one lol

edit - I am not to sure about this with the fish, those fish look kind of odd in thier swimming. It may replicate the surface but not 10+ feet below the surface. The back and forth flow seems WAY to fast. When was the last time you saw water flow back and forth in the wild like that at any depth?]

[yep. Using Tunze's words, "the intrinsic resonance within the tank", I think will apply quite a bit of pounding force on the glass walls and seams. I'm suprised that its only 20% reduction of tank life. It'll be interesting to follow the future of this one. If its German engineered, I'm sure there's been quite a bit of research and testing done. Some tank brands/types may not fare so well. OKay, who'll be the first in DFW area to try one?]

.... I've heard of so few tanks leaking / breaking, I'm not sure this is a good comment to hear. Tanks kept in good condition and especially acrylic tanks last like forever.

Don't they? =x Now I'm worried lol]

[Sounds cool - however, this may be a high-tech fix to an non-existent problem - I look at Marc's pictures and think, 'Dang! This is better than Life!' so am wondering how one could improve on that level of reef-keeping...

Also sounds like a return to the kind of tanks I grew up with so long ago - metal structures with glass set and glued inside...]

[so what does one of these cost?

There has to be a way to DIY one. I would think something to do with some sort of plunger in a tube.]

[Well, you could build a contraption like the 3d ride simulators
that move the ride up and down, mount a tank on the platform
instead of the ride. :wwww:]

[Having just replaced a motion system on one of our Citation sims, pricing in ludicrous

Good idea though, If somebody is rich and wants something cool I'm sure it would be only in the low 6 figures ]

[I saw what they cost in Euros, and coverting that to U.S. currency made it about $500, not including shipping.

However, when they are released here on August, the real price will be announced. Maybe even sooner, as some people like to pre-order.]
