TUNZE TS12 kit versus Ecotech Vortec

The Ecotech Vortec is an awesome powerhead. The motor sits on the outside of the tank connected via magnet to the inside portion. The Ecotech does have a manual controller at this point, but in the future there will be a wireless controller to alternate the output, similar I suppose to the TUNZE. The Ecotech takes up very little room and I cannot complain. I currently run this on a wavemaker to alternate "on" / "off". I simply turn down the power at night (manually) and turn it up (manually) when I leave for work. One other thing about the Ecotech Vortec; a battery back-up is available for pre-order and will be out prior to the end of the month. Awesome for poweroutages.

The TUNZE 6100 came in today. While it is quite larger than Ecotech, it puts out the same amount of flow. Both the Ecotech and TUNZE produce a wide flow pattern and after the initial impression, I believe the Ecotech is wider. What does TUNZE have going for it. An electronic controller that will automatically alternate the flow pattern from 100% to 30% randomly from 3 to 6 seconds or longer. You can also adjust the 6100 to have the same flow constantly without the pulsing effect.

Anyone wanting to observe either one is welcome PM. I will NOT be keeping both of them.
