Tufa Rock

Has any one used the Tufa rock from Whiz-Q in their tanks? I have about 40 lbs and it looks pretty good. I had to break some pieces apart to get the look I wanted because they were mostly round.

I do not have have a camera so I was hoping someone else would post some pics if they are using it.

Thanx

I used tufa rock as base rock in my current setup. I haven't had any problems with the rock. However, if I had it to do over, I would've spent a little more time shaping the rock into more interesting shapes.

My whole tank is Tufa. I tried to pick the holiest pieces I could find. Some of my rock isn't great, but it will one day be completely covered with corals. When I get a bigger tank, a lot of it will be transfered over. I tried to shape some of the pieces, but I didn't have the tools to do it. I broke a few pieces while attempting to use what tools I had.

Chuck, I checked out your blog and the pics look great. I was just wondering because I think the rock looks good and is very porous.
I just went after mine with a hammer and chisel to shape it like I wanted.

I didn't have a chisel. Just a flat head screw driver. I kept breaking the rocks in two. I definitely reccommend Tufa. It is high in calcium (according to GARF). You can get some great pieces. And you don't feel bad about ruining some pieces on accident since it is only 20 cents/lb!

I went to Whiz-Q and they had about 2 pounds of tufa but had several pallets of Lace rock. I really like the shape of the Lace rock. I did not buy any because I did not know if it was reef safe. I think I could make some nice shelves and legdes with the Lace.

Does NEone know if it is reef safe if cleaned with a pressure washer to clean all the holes out?

I have 2 pieces of lace rock in my tank. I made shelves out of them. They have been in my tank for 6 months and I have seen no problem with them.
