Trying to decide on a return from the fuge....

This is for my 75g RR. It will be in my bedroom so of course quiet is a must! I'm leaning towards the Quiet One though I have a Rio Hyperflow on my 60 and like it as well. Whichever one I go with it will be run in-sump, not external.

I voted for the Dolphin just because I used 2 on my 58 when it was running. Now they are just spare pumps. I'm running an Ehiem now and will never go back

25 views and only 6 votes? If you don't see your fav pump it could be 'cause it would only let me put 4(?). Any other suggestions just post them. :)

Whatever you do, do NOT put a Rio on any tank you care about! I wouldn't give one of those to my mother in law...

I mainly included the Rio HyperFlow because I have one on the return from the fuge on my 60. It appears to be made differently as are the Seios. I can tell you that it doesn't get as warm as the little rios I have in FW and they are only circulating as opposed to pushing water up like the HyperFlow.
As I said though, I'm leaning towards the Quiet One and the poll so far is pushing me more in that direction. I was at Fish2morow's and was able to hear how silently they run.

I've currently got two Quiet Ones and 1 Mag Drive in my system...

Personally, I love the Quiet Ones... The Mag is noisier, hotter, and I've had to fiddle with it to get it to start a few times...

Of course, other people have the "It won't start after a power cycle" problem with some Quiet Ones, so it's all luck of the draw I 'spose...

If you want a good dependable quiet pump that uses less power and doesn't add heat to your tank...go with an Ehiem pump. The QuietOne's are good pumps but some have issues restarting. No experience with dolphin pumps but have read that they are good as well. HTH

Cheers!

might want to do some research on laguna pump...I am planning on swapping out my mag pump for one of those. I am using a mag 12 as my return pump...only thing that is noisy is the vibration as it hits side and bottom of my sump. I put an old algon pad underneath and is noise free .They use up less energy

Decision made.
I just ordered the Quiet One 4000 HH (high head).
Thanks for everyones' input. Now I'm 1 step closer on the 75!

If it's not too late, I'd recommend the regular 4000 over the HH for just a simple return pump...
The HH is really made for applications with back-pressure, it's burning a lotta extra electricity for no good reason if it's just a return pump...

(As in, I'd call and change the order if I could...)

I am looking at Hydor inline heaters and was afraid there would be too much drop in flow as they are like 5/8" in & out...

(edit-added)
I also wanted to make sure there was enough to push through a chiller later on if necessary.

Just for reference, I've got a Quiet One 4000 (NON-HH) that's feeding water from my sump, 8 feet horizontally and 2 feet vertically to the 20 gallon anemone tank, where it Ts off and continues 2 further feet horizontally, 1.5 feet or so vertically to my chiller, then another 2 feet or so vertically to feed the 55 gallon display refuguim, and it handles all that without a problem...
