75 Turbo Snail [astrae],
18 Cerith Snail,
100 Nassarius Snail,
2 Emerald Crab and
75 Blueleg Hermits



This is one of the TRC packages from ReefTopia. I only have about 8-10 blue legs, a lone scarlet hermit and maybe half dozen snails left.
 
Seems like a bit much to me. I'd split it with someone - if you know anyone out there yet! I have blue leg hermits that have all been model citizens - I got them when they were tiny. 100 nassarius does seem like a lot of that variety, as does 75 astreas.
 
I guess Misty would know about snail surpluses !

I think a few of the ones that survived the move to calif. may be ones from the meeting ! LMAO.

anyway, I went ahead and ordered the big package.

It was 150.00 so i figure at the very least i can take half the Nassarius and 40 of the blue legs and trade them to my LFS buddy.

His quote for a simlar package was almost $300 so I feel like i made a "costco" sized deal. Of course, like everything else at costco, who needs 20lbs of Mayo ?

All of those clean up crew packages posted on the main sites seem too big to me too. I was looking at various packages for my 40 gallon tank and they were suggesting 20 of this and 20 of that. I decided to just add them slowly and see how they did.

I added 6 hermits (3 scarlet, 3 blue-leg), 2 margarita snails, 1 turbo, and 1 emerald crab. They have been in the tank for around 3 months and I have seen no need to add anything else. They are doing a great job of keeping things cleaned up so I would imagine that 20-40 crabs, 40-50 snails, and whatever else was included in those packages would starve.
 
yeah most packeges are too large... they work great if you have alot of nuisance algae then after the algae is gone... the hermits starve and go after the snails
 
If that was 100 of the nassarius that you can get at Franks Tanks, your tank would be smothered and your sand bed would probably never stop moving. I could see 100 if they all could fit in a regular prescription bottle...tiny, tiny, tiny.
Agree about the hermits, too.

I think that my whole CUC crew is around half of what they plan to send in Astreas. remember, that they all eat and poo. High numbers of CUC creates more... well I'm sure you get the idea.
IMO, that number of CUC is a 911 pack.
