Too much flow?

Came home last night to find my yellow tang laying on top of my vortech pump, I thought he was dead for sure, but I immediately ran to turn the pumps off and he just swam away and immediately started grazing on algae like nothing happened. I had the pump going on full blast but now i'm afraid to even go 1/2 of the way now.

Was he just resting on top? I'm just glad his fins weren't long enough to reach the propeller.

your lucky it prob was sucked up against it, ive read other had that problem also. I had my yellow tang suck up to my Koralia pump when i shut it off it swam around alittle then floated to bottom and died it looked fine but prob had its insides damaged. i think they sell something to go on your pump to keep that from happening. good luck! :)

frank from franks tanks sells the foam covers to put on the pumps to specifically prevent this. it is a common issue with fish if you are not using the foam to dissapate the pull

my mandarin, and pipefish got sucked into my old vortech i eventually had to put the vortech near the top...but this was before they came out with foam covers
