Too much Chill?

I'm going to move my sump into my garage to try and get the noise out of the family room. I have a workbench I can turn into a cabinet to keep dust out. I'm going to need a chiller. Is there such a thing as too large of a unit? I know with a home AC unit you can go too big and cause problems. Is the same true of aquarium chillers? It will be in the garage which is not climate controlled so I know it is going to have to work a little harder so I'm thinking of ordering the JBJ MINI Arctica Chiller 1/4 HP. My tank is 110, sump is 25-30 gal and currently running a mag 7 return pump in the sump and a precision marine skimmer also in sump. I don't want to order an under powered chiller but wasn't sure if you could go too big. I'm hoping not as I would like to just order the 1/4 and be good. From what I've read the 1/10 would be the "right" size.

Input appreciated.
Thanks,
dawn

I would think that wouldn't be enough to cool the water coming from what could be a 130 degree area. In winter you would have a similar problem, bringing the temp up from the 30's could be work for your heaters. Have you looked at getting equipment that is more quiet? Mags aren't known for being quiet and certainly not cool so you will be fighting it as well.

My big trash can in the garage with my mixed salt water gets to about 90. I have an eheim that I plan to use when I move it outside. I need to throttle it back as it overdrives if I just swap them out.
