Too Good to be True?

Saw this on Ebay and it just seems waaaaaay too good to be true. I know its still early in the auction (1.5 days left), but its only at $100 right now....

I would just think the complete setup would cost much, much more.

Lumenarc III Mini Stealth w/ 250w Metal Halide Ballast

This reflector is only 2 months old and still has the plastic cover. You're also getting 3 almost brand new bulbs.

Heck, for that I am willing to pay quite a bit more if I can win it. (fingers crossed)

I already bid on it and in email the seller said its a complete "plug-n-go" set up that he personally used. Claims it works great.

not a bad deal. The reflector is probably worth it alone and the ballast is not worth much and used bulbs not much unless what he says is true about only a couple months usage.

If I replicate what he states having, but purchasing brand new on lumenarc's website (MH mag ballast priced at $70) would cost about $280 + shipping.

IF I have to replace the bulbs, it'd cost me another 60-70....hopefully the ones he's sending will last a few months.

So its looking like unless I get it for my really low bid, which I doubt, it wont be that great a deal....

i hope no one on this site is interested in it or you just lost your sweet deal......also the last few minutes is usually when items go up quick.

Its really too much light for my needs, I only have a 20tall and a 10 gallon right going right now.

And yeah, I am fully expecting get outbid during the last 1-2 hours of the bid. I capped mine pretty low...to go along with my expectations.

I'd really rather buy the lighting from a local person if used or just buy it new online. There is a greater sense of security when you get a chance to touch it and see it work witha used item, at least for me.

It mentioned the plastic cover is still included after 2 months of use. I don't know if they mean an acrylic panel that slides in or a film that is lining the inside of the reflector. If the latter, you'd never get that stuff off the metal once the bulb cooked it for days on end.

Tthe winning bid with shipping is $217.50. I was never going to pay that much. I would just kick in the other $60-$80 and get everything new, in non-melted plastic wrapping.

That and I'm not real crazy about moguls, I would prefer the double pin (or whatever its called).

Thanks for the heads up though
