To spray or not to spray?

Just had a thought and wanted to get some opinions before I took a leap of faith. I just picked up a 12 gallon aquapod and I am wondering what i should do for aquascaping. There was a 16g bowfront that had a whole back wall of "great stuff" foam across the back and I thought it looked neat.

So should i do the same thing across the back of my pod or not? I would stick in some live rock like the instructions call for. Im wanting a natural look and have most of the rocks piled in the center back so I will get an all around view of the tank.

Let me know what yall think!

Thanks
William

A link if you are unaware of this foaming process.

ps. the foam will be covered in crushed coral.

If I do a small tank again around 29-55gal I will try it myself. I've seen a tank can't remember the site but it looked very well set up with the foam. They sprayed it and shifted sand on the foam plus stuck in small pieces of liverock to make it look natural.

Very tempting but I have no more room or money to do this !

here is a neat thread of a larger job if you want more ideas, i personally like it and think it would be kewl to do in your nano

also, here is a members tank that did the black pond spray foam with some marshal island live rock, looks really good, better in person, already has coraline everywhere and tank is not that old

there we go! THanks! im still wondering if i should do it since i dont have that much realestate to play with. I mean the tank is only 12 inches deep. And all of these look like it takes up a good amount of room. Should i be concerned?

Wes thanks for posting it. Carls tanks looks great it looks real we were there on Sat. Thanks Carl for the cheato! He's tank looks a lot better now it has a lot of fish and corals!

I think it would be cool. I'd be really worried about it being difficult to clean and trapping nasty and becoming a chia pet but I'm sure with enough small snails, etc. it would be fine.

Here's mine. I will say it does not stick real well to glass, and you should use steel wool or something on the glass to score it. Other than that the last six months have gone pretty well. Coraline grows well on it, but so does algea, but the snails keep it clean. Here is a pic of mine from today.

wow! looks great!

I'm thinking about using truck bedliner spray (black on back - tan on bottom) in my tank... trying to find out if it's safe though.

The good thing about that foam is you spray it on eggcrate - and if you don't like it, just toss it... I don't think it's going for $6.99 lb - and if it did, it's foam so it can't cost too much! =P

How much "shaping" time do you have with the foam? I'd like some angles if possible to avoid bubble look - if it even looks bubbly?
