Thinking of putting barndoors on my reflectors?

I have been concerned on light leakage/waist on my Luminarc 3s on a 24" wide tank. I was thinking of making barndoors like on stage lighting to concentrate the lighting a little more. What do you think?

I have no idea. I think you'll stop the light bleed in to the room, but I don't know if it will increase lighting or add any kind of reflectivity.

It probably wount add reflectivity since light will not bounce off correctly off a 90 degree angle to it. However, it will stop leaking out into the room which in turn it will make the fish tank appear brighter and your whole set up might look more like a little slice of the reef (since only that area is being illuminated as opposed to the whole room).

The light would probably be hitting it at more of a 30% to 45% so it might get a little reflection. I hope to find some scrap. That stuff is not that cheap. I will probably attach them using chains.

You can use cardboard to fab up the rough shape and figure it all out . Even if you don't get reflective material who cares the fact it won't bleed all over the room will make it worth it and seem brighter . Make sure you post pics of it !
