The Parable Prodigal Son

I bought a pair of this mccosker wrasse 2 months ago, a week later 1 was MIA. Today i was doing some cleaning and guess where i found him? Well he been in my overflow box for 2months now and still swimmign and eating. Now the question is, how should i get him out? the over flox box is small becuase my tank is 70 gallons, so i couldnt put a fish trap in there . should i use a hose big enough to siphon the fish out? or use half a 20oz water bottle to make a bottle trap? Regardless, i am happy that i found him. Now for a feast, let go buy some fish tomorw.

You have a few options. With some help, you can put a net under that drain, then pull out the Durso Standpipe and it may go right down the drain into the net.

If that doesn't work, you can still net it out of the 1" of water that will be in the bottom of the overflow.

The other option can work, siphoning it out with 1" tubing but you've got to act fast since you only have about 40 seconds worth of water in there.

i was going to take that tube out and let it go down the drain since that seem to be the most logic way. but i have this tank for 3 years, so coraline and salt built up or whatever built up. i am worry if i take it out, i will have a hard time putting it back. so i might will havthe to siphon it and use some kind of stopper at the other end of the hose to give me more time direct the hose to the fish. thanks for replying.

The "stopper at the other end" might hurt the fish. Just work fast, or get a helper.

I had to siphon out a vicious fish named Fang (a clown goby) that lived in my Millepora colony and just decimated the coral daily.

I grabbed a salt bucket and some 1" hose, hopped up on a chair and decided I better work really fast if I plan to keep the carpet dry. I started the siphon, flung that end in the bucket, and aimed for the fish hiding in the coral. I got it out in under 3g.
