The Oldest fish in the club?

I haven't posted in some time but I had a though. What is the oldest fish in the club? I don't think I'll win this one, but I've got a good start. This was one of the first fish I ever got when I started in the hobby. He is over 13 years and 8 months old. That how long I've had him and he must have been at least a few months old before I got him. He was a " medium" size when I bought him. I remember I got him a month or two after my daughter was born. Does anyone have an idea of the lifespan of a maroon clown fish? He's so old he's almost black instead of maroon. So, lets see how old some of your fish are.

You've got me beat. My oldest fish was 12, and just died of mysterious causes Friday. Keep up the good work.

The tomato clowns that I got from Jerry and Gigi had been in their tank for about 6 years, then I had them for 1.5 years, and Robert has had them for about 1.5 years now, so that makes them at least 9 years old.

"Does anyone have an idea of the lifespan of a maroon clown fish?"

It's either 15 or 25 yrs, I forget =( I usually tell people looking at my tank

"clownfish can live ~25 yrs and corals live forever as long as they don't get sick or destroyed"

then I hear

"Wooooooow!"

My three oldest fish are a zebra moray, regal tang, and maroon clown. They are all about 10 years old. My maroon clown is also more black then maroon and her stripes are starting to disappear.

Just an update, My daughter turned 15 this month and so has the fish! Thats right 15 year old Maroon Clown. Unbelievable. [smilie=surprised.gif]

wow, that is quite amazing guys...nice work...i guess my oldest is a regal i have had for 5 years and he was tiny when i got him. my 3 chromis are about 4 years old. i had a pair of clowns that would be about 12 that i unfortunately lost during a tank move :(

Let's talk about your oldest mandarin. Anyone got a good story? I've had a few over the years. The current one in my reef was added in Dec 2005 and she's still fat and happy. [smilie=wink.gif]

I've had my mandarin for at least 3 years now.

I also have a serpent starfish that was one of my original cleanup crew inhabitants when I setup my original tank in February 2002.

Wow some of you guys have had them A LONG time which means youve been doing this "reef" thing A LONG time .... geez i know nothing of fish with 1 year under my belt, how many more years will I do this?!

I agree that is a long time but when you consider the cost of this hobby I would not be likely to just pack up shop and stop after all the work and money I have invested. Not to mention I would rather clean, reorganize, or even just stare at my tank rather than the TV. The only way (that I can see at this time) I would stop is if I die or go bankrupt. But I only make $7.66per and have been able to afford it so far. I have had freshy tanks all my life but only had salt for about 2 years. My oldest fish would be my pair of clowns they would be 1.5 next month but unfortunately I lost one on the 3rd. It made it in to the sump and found the retern pump [smilie=crying.gif] it was not pretty.

Thomas-- Congrats! 15 years is one hell of a achievement!
I just started the hobby in April and can't wait to have achievements like this!

We'll My Daughter turned 16 and got her license this week and "Stripes" is still kicking. 16 years old now.! [smilie=surprised.gif] Twice I've almost given up on this hobby but couldn't "just stop" while Stripes was still here.

I'm guessing stripes is a clown also?

Unless Pampee has killed him I still have my first ever saltwater fish. Its a TP clown that is about 6 years old. Pampee has him until I get my tank set back up.
