The Mystery of the Sliding Vortech

Happy New Year folks. I wanted to ask if anyone has had a problem with the dry side of their MP10/MP40 slipping down the glass of their aquarium. I can't seem to correct my problem, and I can't figure out why this is happening. There is little to no vibration, and I've exchanged out the wet side assembly (which it needed to my surprise anyway). On the dry side I am using the rubbery circular mat that goes between the dry side assembly and the glass. So at this point I have figured out all I can do. Maybe someone out there has the answer for me.

I contacted EcoTech and all they told me to do was to replace the impellar assembly.

i had this problem and it ended up being this tiny white washer on the wet side
they mailed me out a new one and while i was waiting i put my old one in the oven for around 45 mins
vortech gave me the instuctions whatever baking it does it fixed it
is this an older unit

You should definitely affix the cord to the top of your tank trim with the supplied zip-tie holder. This protects the motor from falling to the ground, and also supports the wet/dry side connection.

Getting a new magnet from time to time can't hurt.

Kinda a change of subject but my MP10w that i just got is occasionally spitting out micro bubbles and I cant figure out why. It is about 6in below the surface of the water. Any Ideas?

Sometimes when my MP10 hit's the max speed and it will create a mini tornado and pull air from top of the water. You can move it down some and it would most likely fix the issue.

Yeah the mp10s for some reason vortex very easily compared to the mp40. I would move it down an inch and see if that helps. On the mp40 I had problem with slipping I just pulled the spacer instruction sticker off and it helped mine. Also switching to the newer magnet will help too.

Found simple solution, of course after buying all of this replacement euipment: I removed the spacer. No sliding, no rotation, no nothing. Doh!

It's good to have spare parts [smilie=wink.gif] if you have the metal straight on the glass it will scratch it over time

No, I have the rubbery mat. There is a barrier between the unit and the glass. Yeah, spare parts never hurt.
