The MegaFlow 4 Wet/Dry Sump

Okay,

So i bought this based on some possibly bad advice... maybe...? I bought it and was told that the bigger the better, so i bought the biggest one for my 100 gallon tank. I have it all setup and has been running about 2 weeks. I plan on using this sump as my filter system. It has an extra compartment right before the return pump section and after where the skimmer goes. I was told I could my refugium in that 2nd to last compartment. Im not sure how that would work with the flow of water after its gone through the skimmer. Can it be done? any suggestions or tips. It its not possible then what should I do? i was told that i should make sure it just had lots of live rock down in there since I was told that i could not do a refugium. I have inclosed a picture of the sump I have.

I need any advice or opinions.

can i put a sand bed in that chamber to help as a filter? what should i do wit that chamber any suggestions? can i do arefugium in that section?

I don't see why you couldn't have a refugium in that section as long as the flow's not so high that it blows debris back into the return section. The baffles do look short. You might add some light diffuser material cut to fit, vertically between that section and the return, so that macro stays where it belongs.

Another option you may go is to get some acrylic from Home Depot to raise the height of your baffle. Then add sand and green plants into your sump.

If you think it's a total loss: meaning, you will never be satisfy what you have, head out to Petco and buy yourself a 29 or 20 gal long and add the baffle yourself. Look into the DIY forum.
