Terra cotta in Reef?

I have got a project that I am starting and am wondering if anyone has heard of terra cotta pots in salt water with inverts. If they break down over time that is fine as long as they don't leach anything bad.

Hey Yuki... Just anecdotal evidence, but you see clown breeders using them all the time without a problem.

Everything has been in that tank since Mach of 2012 so just shy of a year. I picked up the clowns from McReefer and he said they had a flower pot so I gave them one.
I soaked it in brine for 2 days before putting it in the tank just to be safe.

Just remember some of the stuff is made in places where they dont care about Lead

How to spot tableware that may have hazardous amounts of lead

Some characteristics associated with risk of lead exposure in tableware:

•Rustic terra cotta pottery with a clear or colored glaze;
•Rough, imperfect glaze; glaze that is coming off or damaged;
•Decoration or decal on top of the glaze;
•Bright colors or decoration on the food-bearing part of the dish.
•You can't always tell by looking at a dish whether it contains lead or will expose you to lead. The only way to know for sure is to test the dish or pot for lead
