Temperature for reef

I am still trying to get my temp dialed in. I checked today and the high runs 84. I got the low to stabilize at 78 during the winter but have not been checking since warmer weather. My house leaks air so its not necessarily the thermostat setting.

I have one fan in the canopy cooling the 2 x 175w MH and VHO.

I have seen a double fan clip on for cooling and wonder if I need to get that. If I did get it, should it also go in the canopy or down on the sump?

What is too bad is that I have a really nice fan in an old condenser cabinet that I would like to use but I would need to figure out how to get the 10" square output over to my tank. Any thoughts on that?

A fan in the sump pointing straight down at the water really does help a lot. I recall back when I needed temp reduction it lowering my temp from 85 to 81-82, but obviously you may experience differently.

I also had a fan in my canopy blowing around but only found that to increase the temperature just mixing around the hot air... others experience differently?

The fan pointed at the water helps because of 'evaporative cooling'.
