Temp for new reef tank

Ok... I finally got the 200g fowlr going good, now to turn the attn to the 100g tank (was previous fowlr) now to be turned into a reef tank... Have some live sand in it, soon to get some live rock (this weekend)... but the real question is... What Temp should I keep the tank.... I have seen a varity of temps for different things... just want to get some advice on the temp...

Thanks in advance.

78-82 is acceptable. The narrower the range you can keep from day to night the better off you will be. My tank stays between 80-81.5.

Thanks... I currently am able to keep my 200g running around 78 so I think I "should" be able to do that with the 100g... just didn't know since Im new to the reef tanks... wanted to make sure that I didn't harm any of them.

One time my dad's tank reached 85 and the corals were fine all day, my heater in my tank barily turns on anymore with all the equipment putting out heat into my tank.

Good Luck

One thing I found when going from FOWLR to a reef system is the need for light intensity increases so much (for the photosynthetic corals or the zooanthellae living in the tissue of the corals) that it introduces much more heat into the system.

I'm running 4- 96W PCs approx 10 hours daily and I've been able to keep my temp pretty steady at 81 degrees by running a fan blowing across the top of the water when the lights are on.

Hope this helps!
