TDS How high before you change DI?

How high will you let your TDS get before you change your DI cartridge?

My readings are...

TAP 245
after DI 15

Changing my cartridge soon.

I don't know what kind of DI filter you are using, but checkout the refillable DI canisters. They are more economical that buying the DI cartridges. Here is a link to the one I use, and love; http://www.thefilterguys.biz/de-ionization.htm.

This will depend somewhat on your water source.

When I first set up here in Aledo I installed new sediment (.5 micron), Carbon (.5), 90 gallon per day RO and mixed bed DI cartridge (all SpectraPure). Our water here is crazy hard. The best I got with all new filters was 11 to 12. After about 1.5 months and 1500 to 2000 gallons of water made it's at 14 to 15.

I just installed a whole house sediment/carbon filter and a water softener yesterday. I am sure that this will get me into at least the mid single digits and give my RO membrane a lot longer life.

I have doing a lot of research lately and will be ditching the RO/DI unit for a "Kati-Ani" DI unit when I can afford it. I am tired of throwing away 4 gallons for every gallon I make, and it would be the right thing to do considering our water supplies here in the West of Fort Worth area.
