Tank Raised Clowns & Anemones

Just heard from "Lacybiker200" aka Susan from Alto, TX. She had bought a clown from me and one from Frank Perkins. I've seen it posted here and on Reef Central that tank raised clowns are reluctant to host in anemones. Her 2 clowns had been in her tank 3 days when the male, Frank's tank raised, found the anemone and dove in. The female apparently took the hint and is using the nem like a trampoline. They both slept in the nem last night. Just wanted to pass this on for those that may be hesitant to purchase tank raised for fear they won't host.

Ya its just bogus that tank bred are more reluctant to host. What few "experiements" people have done have shown virtually no difference.

Pete, here is a pic of the 'kids' happy in their new home...

During the day 'she' pushes him out, and at night they both sleep in it. She still does her trampoline thing, but now dives right in.

I don't know where that theory came from Ted. My tank raised clowns (from Andy) have been hosting in both BTAs and a Ritteri over the years, and the tank raised clowns (from Houston) jumped into the RBTA within 3 days of being in the tank.

It must have been from my tank  I have had 4 RBTA and tank raised percs in this tank for years and only one finally figured out hosting in it.
I'm thinking of taping some photos of clowns hosting to the glass so they can catch the clue!

Maybe Ted's little guys that I picked up at the meeting will show the way.

Marc, I've read it in many posts on Reef Central. Some hobbyists are covinced that only WC clowns will use host anemones. Just wanted to pass on some info that it is not always the case. Of course, they'll use LPS, clams, powrheads, etc....as hosts. Another misconception is that they have to have an anemone host. Not so, but most of us want clowns to use anemones as their host, because it looks cool, and I agree with that, it does look cool.
