Tank Placement Question

My wife and I are trying to find a suitable spot for the tank I just bought (thanks Carabelli !). It's a 45g cube (24x24). One of the choice spots for it is in the living room, next to the stairs. My concern is that it's very close to the TV and stereo system. Would the noise/lights from say, watching a movie (especially at night after the tank lights were off), cause undo stress on the fish or corals? There is a subwoofer in that same corner, although that could be moved to the other wall. One of the smaller wall-mounted speakers would be withint 2-3 ft from the tank, though.

Anyone else have their tank right next to the entertainment center? Would I be better off moving it to the office? (The other good spot for it doesn't have any power outlets, so I'd end up having to call an electrician). I'd like to have it in the living room where I'd enjoy it the most. It's a beautiful tank (starfire glass front and sides, drilled, etc). But I'm having trouble agreeing with the "interior decorator" where it should go. [smilie=lol.gif]

In a worst case scenario I might end up having to sell the cube and get something that's more of a traditional shape doesn't come 24" out from the wall I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, though.

I wouldn't worry too much about noise from your entertainment system stressing your livestock. The typical aquarium pump/powerhead will produce far more noise in the tank than practically anything outside it could.

In the end, you should just put it where your wife wants it and be thankful. ;-)

I have my nano (open top with a HOB skimmer) about 6-7ft away from my TV along with all the other surround sound. It's loud at first, but I honestly do not hear it anymore and don't have any issues with stressing the fish.

That's usually how things work. [smilie=lol.gif]

(OK, after rereading that, that just sounds wrong... [smilie=surprised.gif] )
