Tank level rising?

So this is the second time and it's only happening at night. My tank level is fine all day long and then at night the DT level rises almost above the overflow but it's not overflowing out of the DT. I actually had my ATO turned off because it had happened the night before but the overfill alarm went off keeping it from overflowing the whole thing so I was letting the water evaporate out. The water level was good all day yesterday and I wake up this morning to it being high again and then return section of my sump just at the top of my pump. What is causing this? If it were an issue with flow through my durso then I would think it would just overflow all together but it's not. Any ideas?

If new setup your pump is pushing water faster than it is draining

If an older setup maybe a snail is clogging the overflow pipe. Also check the air hole of the durso make sure salt creep is not clogging it

It's been running for about 4 months. If it were the pump pushing more than what's draining, wouldn't it just overflow right over the top of the DT? I thought it might be a snail but it's happened twice and only at night. Very weird situation.

Snails are more active at night. Maybe a snail is eating algae from around the durso slowing it down just enough at night?

I have a fairly large urchin that crawls in my overflow (it is a weird 2" diameter custom overflow) during the day and then comes out at night. My overflow is so big that I doubt he would affect it, but it could be a similar thing happening to you. Also, it might not be the overflow. It could be the pump. I find snails in the return from time to time. They are small when they climb in and then grow up and get larger in the pump.
