I've been running with an e-shopps sump and skimmer and their design is terrible. You would think that by using both from the same manufacturer they would work well together but with the skimmer hanging on the side of the sump the pickup tube does not reach the water line. I put an extension on the pickup tube then the pump is not strong enough to prime the skimmer. Once it is going it works great.
To remedy the problem I am starting with a different sump which brings me to my question. I have miracle mud and caulerpa in the refugium section. When I drain the existing sump to do the transfer will I cause a problem stirring up the miracle mud sand mixture? I have time to let it settle as I have whitecaps on the top of the display tank
but I'm concerned with having some kind of mini cycle. Is that something I need to be concerned with or will letting it settle then replanting the caulerpa be OK?
Thanks for any advice!
