Sump Question

This is my current sump set up. I haven't seen this before and I'm a bit concerned because there is very little flow through the fuge.

Looking for thoughts on ways to improve this. Right now drain splits into two, one going to the sump the other going to the fuge. There is little cheato in the fuge and few rocks. (Thats an easy change.) There are also rocks in the return area.

Thoughts? The sump is pretty much built in to the stand so I'm not sure replacing it is an option.

Thanks
Steph

Plenty of sumps set up this way.

If you need more flow in the fuge to keep cyno at bay, you can use a powerhead....but a little cyno in the fuge is fine esp. if it keeps it out of the display.

sorry to probe, what are the downsides to plubming the calcium reactor to drip into the fug? Seems like the CO2 would be better placed where the algae can remove it, another opinion is to drip effluent into the skimmer for increased aeration to remove the CO2 to balance PH.

Any experiences?
