Sump and plumbing questions

OKAY. it's been a slow process of piecing things together for me, and I need some help and advice.

1) I made a durso at home depot, but was looking at the piping and not sure if I got the right one.

The pipe says pvc1120 200psi 73degf. Does that indicate that it's only good up to that temperature? did I need to get a different pvc type?

2) I have a wet dry that i want to use as sump/refugium but looking at designs it looks like i need to add baffles on the return side? Can I get away not doing it? I dont have tools at my apartment making DIY difficult. Here are pics

I have this extra white piece I can silicone in.. I just don't have anything that I can cut glass or acrylic with.

That is saying the pvc is good at that pressure at that temp. You will not have any pressure on it with it being a drain. You're good.

yes that was the plan said:
If you are ditching it as a wet dry unit, you can have glass cut to your specs at home depot to use as a baffle (that you could silicone in place).

i would get some acrylic from lowes and have them cut it. just make sure you get a piece that is thick and wont bow as much. thats what i did with my 20L sump, it worked out great.

you probably could just use that white piece if you wanted to, i dont see anything wrong with it

i hooked this up and ran into a problem. the drain does not flow fast enough to keep up with the pump. maybe i did the drain wrong? instructions said i should use 1 1/4" pvc but i used 1", could that be it?

Did you drill a hole in then top of the cap?

you'll want to run a ball valve on your return line. you can do it where it puts pressure on your pump, or a have it on a T that runs back into your sump

You could try a larger hole or the pipe might not be large enough. What size are your bulkheads, because if they are small, you will have to get a less powerful pump OR have two durso drains. I dont know The details of your setup. I'm not a pro and there are a ton of threads about matching up drain rate to pump flow rate. You have to take into account number of elbows, 45s, etc.

Drains drain at a certain rate based upon their diameter. I don't know off hand what the numbers are but they are on the durso standpipe website.

Reef central has a link to a calculater that allows you to determine pump flow rate while entering all your return plumbing and specific pump.

Try to match them up!

Running a ball valve to return excess to the sump could work too, but if your pump is to npowerful, it's too powerful!

Here is a link to Marc's pic of how he diverted excess flow back into sump.
