Streaming fish tank!!

I am playing with streaming video so that I can look in on the tank while I am out of town for a few days. Check it out:

It's a live feed but I apparently didn't set the time zone yet. I need to pretty up the page but it works. Full screen works but I need to tweak the quality. It's a work in progress. :)

EDIT: I took it offline for now. If you want to play around with it and set one up for yourself, go to www.justin.tv and set up an account. Once it's all set up you can embed it somewhere on your website and check the tank whenever you want. If you don't want people seeing your super secret corals you can password protect the feed. If you don't have a website you will be able to go to http://www.justin.tv/pneumatic (or whatever you name YOUR channel) to watch it.

Pretty fun stuff!

I am only 512 up (getting 427 in reality) but it's doing an ok job. I don't know if it's load sensitive so if more than two people are watching it could crap out. :)

EDIT: I took it offline for tonight.

I've been thinking of doing this for a long time but will need to switch ISP's. AT&T has 5 down 1 up in my area now, so I may switch over from charter which is 5 down and 256 up.

Are you using a service for the domain or is that your own?

You could do it with 256 up. The quality is scalable so you can even use a mobile connection to stream video if you want. I had it cranked up too high and realized my daughter was uploading stuff. That was causing some issues.

That's my own domain. I just embedded the player into an html page and hosted it up myself. You could use the website http://www.justin.tv/pneumatic (that's my channel) if you don't have your own domain and hosting.

Domains are crazy cheap. I just went through GoDaddy and did a hosting contract through them too . I haven't had to change email addresses in years.
