Stream or 4-way cl? - Help me decide

[I am planning my new 120G (48x24x24). The tank is going to be dual RR with a Mag12 (or equivalent) as the return pump (split between both returns in the overflows). The pump sizing here may change slighty but not much I am thinking. I am planning to go either BB or SSB (leaning BB) and maybe a remote DSB. If BB I will put a spraybar on a PH on the back bottom. Obviously I need more flow than this so onto the question.....

I have been considering a Oceans Motions 4-way on a CL using a pump in the 3000GPH range. That would put me @ 30-40X turnover in the display. All holes predrilled on the bottom. 4 1" returns (1 in each corner of the tank). This should give me a decent variable flow having 6 different pump outputs (4 of them switching).

After pricing everything (5/6 extra holes, the 4-way and a pump) I started considering a stream. I have not done much research into all of their sizing/options /etc. but I think a single stream with controller is going to be a little cheaper.

I am thinking a 6100 with controller might be what I am looking for. My question is is this going to be too much/little flow for a 48" long tank. How well will it keep the tank flowing (deadspots?) with just 1 pointed in 1 direction.

I'd like to get some feedback from those with streams and OM units (4-way preferably; if there are any here). Any pros/cons you can think of for each. Any other input that seems to fit.]

[I had a Tunze Turbelle in my 55g and it moved 800gph max. It was tricky with sand, but man what flow.

Now I have two Tunze Stream 6100s in my system, and 6000gph flow max. Again, tricky with the sand but eventually I'll get it just right.]

[I have two Tunze treams pumping 3800 gph and with a bare bottom tank I still need 4 maxijet 1200s blowing downward in the four corners to help blow off the bottom. Of course if I had really thought about it I would have set a up some type of closed loop such as you are talking about. I am not sure I would have drilled the bottom but I certainly would have drilled somewhere for extra holes. I think if you really set up a good closed loop and do it right, you will really be happy in the end not having any power heads in the tank.]

[IF your only oing to save a few dollars with the stream system then I would go with the closed loop.]

[Agree that starting from scratch the closed loop will be your best choice and even though I love my Tunze, they are huge and unidirectional.]

[I think all said and done it's going to be $2-300 more for the CL. I am definitely drawn to having no visible PHs in the display. The Stream is fairly chunky. In a 6' wide tank it is not as noticeable hanging on the side as I think it would be in a 4' long.

It sounds like most so far are really suggesting the CL. I don't mind the cost I had always just heard the Streams were the way to go.

Here is the layout I was considering.....
