stony frags getting knocked down

Hi y'all. A blue tort frag I bought at the frag swap keeps getting knocked down. I've reglued it at least 6 times since I got it with super glue gel. What am I doing wrong? Another of the frags I bought has also got knocked down. I have a lawn mower blenny that may be the culprit, or large turbo snails? Is there another way to get it to stay?

Thanks. Kay

I had a similiar problem. Sometimes the crabs would knock em down, other times my clown would get pissed off and push it over on purpose. I just found another place to put it.

I also glue my frags in the open air for a better bond.

I'm having the same problem with my newest frags... Went out at night with a flashlight and I think I've discovered the culprit...

There's a rather large urchin cruising the tank that I didn't put in the tank... Bit of a bulldozer to frags...

Trying to decide if I wanna remove him or just put up with it...

My husband glues the frags to its own piece of rubble then glues the rubble to a piece of LR. It stays put but if you have to remove it it'll pop off.

Recently an Emerald crab stole my Pectinia frag and dragged it behind a rock and scraped half the flesh off. It didn't make it through the night :(

One of our hermits picks everything off the rock as he climbs it incliding snails, coral, softies, other hermits. Doesn't matter he just wants a clear rock. I thought it was funny at first now I want to track him down and throw his tail in the fuge.

(By the way whoever sold me the Pectinia frag I'm looking in to picking another up and putting it in a safer tank :D)

Try using aqua putty in conjuction with the super glue gel. I'll put some super glue gel on whatever I'm using to mount my frag, and then place a piece of aqua putty over the super glue. I'll dry the bottom of the frag as best I can, and then put some super glue gel to the frag bottom and place in putty. Seems the super glue will give you fast attachment while the putty "cures." Works real well for me, and frag will encrust fairly quick over the cured putty. This is done outside of tank, and I can usually get my frag back into water after only a few minutes. If I then want to mount onto LR in tank, I'll repeat procedure starting on the bottom of the frag mounted piece of rock starting with super glue, then putty, and finally super glue over putty. QUICKLY place on selected spot in tank on LR. This can be "popped" off of LR later if you want to remove or move. Key to this method seems to be the use of a dry piece of rock as you base.

Jeremy's correct. You can pick up at Home Depot. It is Green and white. Also, if you're near a Dollar General, you can buy 2 tubes of super gel for a buck, as compared to $2.50 plus elsewhere. There's one near where I get a haircut, and I automatically stop in to buy 2 packages. Always comes in handy.

What is the best way to attach prety big Frogspawn (8 heads) to a large liverock that can't be moved? Do I actually Superglue the foot of the coral to the rock or just glue the skeletel base to the rock? Or if I just leave it sitting on the rock will it eventually attach itself?

Heres some good advice based upon a similar question;

My best advantage, although not much...Is to make a "cone" on glue, make it long and turn off all the flow. Place frag hard on rock and hold...let go and allow it to "cure" a few minutes untill I turn on the pumps again.

Hope the link helps...

Super glue the frag to a small rock chunk (break it off or such) outside the tank, than affix the rock chunk to it's location with the stick epoxy (there are a few kinds).

Superglue Gel does work underwater with a big enough dab, though they get knocked over easily. NEVER use the epoxy directly with a coral, or to clsoe to the coral, it generates a good deal of heat while curing and can lead to STN.
