Still getting TONS of micro bubbles

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the hobby, close to 4 months into the hobby. I have a 150g tank with a 29g sump/refugium. I have a CPR CS202 overflow box with a Quiet One 4000 return pump. I am getting tons of micro bubbles in my tank. A few has suggest me putting some live rocks or a sponge around the return pump so that when the micro bubble hits it, it would break. I have try, it did reduce, but still TONS of micro bubbles in my tank. I went to my local petshop and looked at their sump/refugium. I have noticed that I can barely see the water flow moving from the left side of the sump to the right side of the sump. The flow flow in my sump is extremely fast in my sump compare to the water flow in the sump at the petshop. Could this be a big factor as to why I am still getting tons of micro bubbles in my tank? If I need to slow down the water flow going through my sump, I would need to put a valve on my return line to slow it down? Wouldn't that lessen the flow rate going through my tank?

I have attach some pictures including my tank. I no longer have that hang on skimmer in the back of my tank. I recently bought the Octopus EXT PS150 skimmer for the tank. Also, I have (2) 36" light fixture with 2 bulb in each fixture. It came with 1 12K white bulb and 1 blue bulb in each fixture. I took all the white bulb out and replace them with blue bulbs, so I have 4 blue bulbs and no white bulbs at this time. I had a small hammer frag recently died. Is this due to not having the white bulb in there? My anenome though seems to be fine. I have a small Xenia and it does not seem to be doing well, so I had put the 1 white bulb back in each light fixture. My small hammer frag died due to the lighting?

I was thinking of getting a ballast and some 6' bulb with retrofit kit to mount it inside my canopy. Do I also need to buy the reflectors for the bulb?

I know this is a lot of questions, but my main concern is the micro bubble issues at this time. In the picture below on my return section of the sump is an old picture that does not have the LR and sponge around the return. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone in advance.

I had trhem for 6 months...
the only thing you can do is wait..
adding baffels between whatever and the return pump helps too..

but time will add slime will build and the bubble the baffels will not not stop

I would add some filter pad in the baffles, and possibly a filter sock where the water comes into the sump from the tank and the skimmer. Other than that, mathew is right it will probably get better with time.

Tank is looking nice though. :D
BTW is that a nemn you have in there on the upper left rock?? How is it doing?

if the current in your sump is so fast that it carries bubbles with it, instead of them flowing to the top, then you are going to have a microbubble issue.

That said, my tank has a lot of flow through the sump, and I have a small amount of bubbles, but I just live with it.

I think that your coral will not have a problem with it unless the bubbles build up on them.

These are just my thoughts on this, I am sure others may have different opinions.

Good Luck

Yes, it will. Remember that the tank "turnover rate" is different than the rate at which you water flows through your sump. What return pump model are you using?

Is your overflow drian running wide open or are you using some sort of mod to control the air/water combination of the drain?

I would not worry too much about the microbubbles at this point. From the picks that I have seen, yours are alot less than mine were in the beginning months...

I have made a few changes, but mainly at the return to the sump. Since I run the CSS 220 skimmer, which is notorious for microbubble issues, I made sure that not only the returns were from the tank were dumping as far away from the pumps as I could get them, the drain hose from the skimmer as well. It made a huge difference to the DT but what little microbubbles that I have doesn't seem to bother anyone... at least inside the tank.
