Steve's LED wiring help

Can anyone uncomplicate this for me? I know how to wire my LEDs. I can wire them to my drivers, and my supply, but how do I wire the pots, and the fans and the plug?
Thanks for any help!

Well, the plug on my power supply has white going to AC - L terminal, black going to AC-N terminal, and the green going to ground terminal.

The 2 dimmer switch wires go to terminals on the driver. I have the original quad driver, and there are 3 sets of terminals. The dimmer connects to the one in the middle, which is the only terminal that accepts 2 wires. I don't think that it matters which one goes where.

I don't have the fans for the tubular heat sinks, but if the transformer has 2 wires, hook them to the 2 wires on the fans. I run 4 small fans off of one transformer by using 2 terminal blocks, one for each transformer wire. You could wire nut multiple fan wires to the transformer wires as well.

The fans - the red wire on the fan goes to the black wire on the fan power plug, and the black wire on the fan goes to the white wire on the power plug. It seems a little backwards, but thats just the way it is.

The dimmers do go in the center two ports on the driver, they are bipolar so you can't plug them in backwards.

Thanks!

So the fans MUST have a separate plug? I can't have them wired in to my main supply?

Okay....last thing.......the main power plug where do the 3 wires go?

The fans came with their own power supply, didn't they?

Well, the plug on my power supply has white going to AC - L terminal, black going to AC-N terminal, and the green going to ground terminal.

Okay.....all wired up, and only half of my leds are working......
Every other led star is lit. I am wired - to + in 4 groups of seven.
Am I wired wrong? I have the power lead connected to one end of my array. Should I be on opposite ends?

Each set of 7 LEDs should be wired to it's own driver chip. Did you get a quad driver and a triple driver for this setup? Or maybe you can hook 8 LEDs to each driver chip, depending on the LEDs that you're using, I am not sure. You have to have 2 wires coming back to the drivers from each set of 7 or 8 LEDs! These 7 or 8 LED "sets", or "arrays" are wired separately from each other to their own driver chip on the drivers.

Yep. I can't figure out what's wrong.....I'm at a loss. Now one array won't light up, I have no dimmer control.....Can someone send me a picture of their LED wiring so I can compare?

On that one array that won't light up, check to make sure that you have all wires soldered in the right order! I got crossed up on one when I soldered mine.

Also on the one that will not work, make sure the wire is not broken. I could not get one of my sets to work and it turned out the 24 gauge wire going from the leds to the drive was broken.

Just figured it out. Drivers are both bad. Not sure how or why, but a buddy brought his, and they worked perfectly. Guess I'll be calling tomorrow. Maybe Santa will get me some new drivers for Christmas

In Steve's instructions, he says to only fire up 1 array at a time when initially testing them so that you don't burn up the drivers somehow. That means only having 1 array connected to the drivers at a time for the first time checking them.

David

I actually did that. I hooked up one at a time, one after another. All seemed good, so I went on. I just talked to Steve. He asked for pictures to see if he could see where I may have wired something wrong, and we will go from there. I will keep you all updated.

I gotta say, Steve is one hell of a guy. I sent the drivers back to let him check them out, and it appears that I may have simply shorted them out. I can't confirm or deny that I may at one point touched a stray wire maybe??? Either way, he was kind enough to fix/replace the burnt parts and send them back at no extra charge. Entirely not under warranty, but fixed just as a courtesey. VERY appreciated, Steve! Customer service is just about gone anywhere you go any more, but Steve was very helpful from the beginning, throughout my errors, and all the way to the end. My tank looks beautiful, and my living room is now cool again since I don't have street lights above my tank anymore heating the room! Thank you, Steve!
