[Well the title says it all, I thought it up today while making me a snack. Has anyone done this? Just wondering. Seems like a good idea for everyone who dont have lights under their stand. Hope its a simple mod (Splice wires and add the button in)... I will check it out. Anyone else out there?

Its an easy mod and a quick trip to the harware store. They sell door switches for pantries and cabinets which should do the trick for you. Electronics supply places lie Fry's and Radio Shack have all sorts of smaller rocker switches which would also work it just depends upon the size of the switch you need and the easiest way to mount it to your cabinet door. As for the wiring yes its a simple splice like any other switch. Since its under the cabinet you might want to put it in a sealed enclosure to prevent salt creep/water splash and electrocuting yourself.]

[Thanks, this will be one sweet stand im making! Opps i guess i spilled the beans on that one :laugh long: ...Ill try to to do this, i hate getting shocked lol. What type of encloser should i look for because i have limited electrical experience. and i hope it can be found at lowes..

[Travis,
I would just look for an outdoor electrical enclosure that fits your needs. Depending upon the switch that you get you might be able to get a small plastic box that you could easily mount the switch to with a little trimming/dremel work. If the boxes are too large to place at the switch location then I would look for a sealed switch with long enough leads to mount the outdoor box somewhere else in the stand out of the way. Then you can route all the wiring into the box and make the connections there.]

[Thanks for the Info! Im letting the Stand Cure and dry from last nights Coats of Polyurathane. When i go to purchase my PVC i will look for the Box and the Switch. Do you think i will need a special type of Switch or just a regular Refrigerator one?

Thanks Agian

[Travis,
The fridge one might be better because most of them are fairly well sealed. I would just look for a nice sealed switch that fits into your application. The pantry switches are probably more common at your local hardware store but they aren't designed to have saltwater spalshed on them.
While you are at the hardware store look into some Spar-urethane as opposed to polyurethane. It offers better protection around saltwater.]
