Stag Growth and Red Bugs

I thought I would post this because I find it kind of interesting. This is a stag I bought from the Fish Gallery about a 2 months ago and when I got it home I noticed it had red bugs! I thought oh well it was only $15 and north worth the money to treat with interceptor and other QT costs. After talking with different people I found there is no real definite answer saying red bugs will kill a coral, so I thought I would try to document what happens.

So here we go....

As you can tell not much change, but there is considerable amount of growth.[/img]

Yeah, particularly they seem to be attracted to smooth skinned acropora.

*blinks*

Ah, sorry I was looking at those pink/purple zoas :D

You left it in your main tank and not QT? Can red bugs travel across your tank and infect another coral?

Yeah Bill that particuliar sps which looks a lot like my microphthalma is not really affected too much by those stupid pests.

Yeah this is my only acro and I never frag it because I don't want to give anyone the "red bug". The weird thing is the bugs don't seem to effect the coral at all.

Plus, as you can see the tips have turned white after I added my refugium.

Steve, (hehe) Hopefully I can orders some inverts next week. I'm trying to get one more person to join up.

They may not seem to affect the coral and your growth is obviously great, however; I can guarantee if you treat your colors will improve. :D

BigSteve; You freaked me out too, but I was going to tell you that it is your own fault for not quarantining your livestock.

Blide; Your tank is looking great; What ever happened to the soft coral collector?

Thanks for the compliments... :D

I really like soft corals and when I find a new house I will have an X- large soft coral tank.

After reading Servo's post I thought I would do an inspection to see if the red bug population might have grown since the coral was bigger and the weird thing is I can't find any redbugs??? This is my only acro and the only fish I have added is a six-line. :?
