SPS Help

I have several sps, mainly digi and a monti cap, that are starting to expose their skeleton as far as i can tell, the polys are very small and closed, and they surface looks almost like a dried up sponge...something i have not seen before. PO4 is at .5ppm with API test (salifer reading .03 ) so i dont know what it really is.
other SPS do not share the same look.
the monti has been doing really well up until recently.
only changes i can think of were water change sunday, and replacing the GFO yesterday...

calcium was 420 this weekend....
i just added a little and will test in an hour.
any idea what causes this? is it STN?

Unless the tissue is flaking off, I don't think it is STN. Pictures would help.

What are all your parameters? What test kit?

what is your alk at?

how long has the tank been up and running?

I have a new Iwasaki bulb that should be in today and will be putting it in today.
most of the GHA that has appeared has been on that side of the tank it was leading me to believe the bulb was going bad.

PH dropped to 7.9 during the night with the sump light on, is this too low for a night swing....its about 8.2 or 8.3 in the day...
temp was about 78..about 81 mid day.

Start out real slow on the iwasaki bulb or you will fry the corals.

Ph is fine mine dips below that.

How do you supplement ca and alk into your tank and do you top off water into your sump.

I was being lazy one day and topoff my water in the tank and it hurt the corals for a week. Also when I was manually dosing two part I doses inthe tank I noticed corals were not happy

All my dose's go into the return pump section in the sump, along with my ATO with ALK buffer.

can anyone link me a thread on how to gently introduce a new light to coral?
start it on a 3 hour cycle and bring it up an hour every 2 or 3 days?
