SPS Coral - Need Name

Hi, I purchased this SPS coral as a frag last year. It was about 2" in length. Very Tiny... Now it is huge and has branched out to become two separate pieces. Could you help me with the name. I am wanting to frag it and trade some for other items. I have LED lighting and everything grows so fast. Thanks!

Hi Daphne!

That is pocillipora. It grows very fast under T5s with LED supplementation, too. I know because I have the same coral. The tips pop green under the blue lighting.

Thanks David. I am considering either selling one of the colonies or maybe fragging it. Any thoughts on pricing?

If anyone wants to meet me somewhere between 7-4pm weekdays, I will take a baseball size for $30. Im in dtown dallas but can meet at a reasonable distance. Pm me if interested

Waft some water over it to make the polyps retract. If there are verrucae ('bumps') all over the top of the skeleton near the branches, then it's pocilipora. If it's smooth, birdsnest (likely Seriatopora guttatus).
