Spray Bar?

I personally would use a Maxi Jet instead of a Rio (Rio's have a bit of a reputation for nuking tankes) but have a look at this thread for some ideas:

Also, a rio 600 is going to be very very weak at powering a spray bar. But like stated above, Rios are dangerous to use.

Well i already have a rio in my tank. I was planning on adding a line-loc spray bar on there i just was not sure if they are compatible. What do you mean nuking the tank?

If a rio impeller gets stuck for some reason, the pump will overheat and melt the motor casing. The problem with this is that the designers were not very intelligent and filled the motor casing with oil. So when that happens, you have an exxon valdez on your hands.

Plus I have had two electrical cords come loose at the pump end. Glad my had was out of the tank before it happened.

Well that is very good to know. I guess it is time to start looking for a new power head before I have a major problem.

Yeah, I agree about the Rios. I've had 3 go bad on me and 'bite' me a bit (and did not trip GFCI's in 2 of the instances -- presumably because of the lack of the grouding prong). Thankfully not too severe and I've not yet had one melt down. I'm trying to replace them as they go to 'bite' stage (or if something breaks), but having said that I have to say that I still ordered Rio 800's for use in CPR backpacks. I tried using a MJ1200 with the adapter in one CPR and it just doesn't produce the same about of skimmate that the Rio 800 does. But if I had some other option and wasn't trying to generate foam, I'd certainly choose another brand. JMO
