Split or dying

I have a green hair mushroom that appears to have white necrotic tissue where it's "mouth" used to be. Wondering if it's splitting or if it's just dying off. I noticed it looked odd yesterday and today there's clearly a hole in the middle of it. The rest of the tissue seems to look ok which is what is making me lean towards the split but it just doesn't look right.

Thoughts?
 
I have the same mushrooms and they do the same every now and then but no harm comes of it. They do split alot but I havent seen it start with this. I think it is more of a reaction to something happening in the tank. I wouldnt worry about it, these mushrooms would survive a nuclear blast.
 
The rest of it looks healthy and last night it started folding up. This morning it clearly looks like it is splitting. Yippee!
