SOUNDPROOF YOUR NOISY PUMPS??

New to salt water, a wish my filters/pumps were not so loud. Do any of you line your under the tank area with sound deadening material? Jut a thought.

You'll get used to it...as a matter of fact, when everything is off, you feel like something is missing.

Make sure the pump is fully submerged in water, if you're plumbing with PVC direct to the pump, make sure the pump sits flush at the bottom of the glass with at least 1" away from any glass nearby.

You can even put them on a soft sponge underneath the pump and remove to clean every other week or so.

You want to eliminate all vibration as much as possible which causes noises.

I have yet to do it myself, but i remember someonw suggesting to put 4 "beads" of silicone on the bottom of the pump to act as feet.

if you use a magdrive or other submersible i use any suction cup braket i can find ,..just zip tie to pump(or superglue) dont stick suction cups all the way just set the pump on them

Wal-mart has some super cheap rubber pot holders that I've used under pumps in the sump. It's about 6" square, rubber, with raised 1/4" diameter "bumps" all over it. Worked good, and hasn't changed or decayed or anything in a year.

I think they were hanging in the mexi food aisle.
