Something Red Eating My Star Polyps

I'm new to corals as my other post have informed. Water is great tested at NDA. But today I noticed a leafy like red substance in the middle of this group of I think polyps and it seems to be eating them. Does anyone know what is effecting them in the added picture. Please advice.

I can't tell 100% but kinda looks like cryo algae. It grows so fast that many corals can't compete with it and they will be overtaken. It is common to new tanks and takes some work to get in control. Good luck.

exactly...and from the look of the other algae on that rock it is not your only problem. how old is the tank? do you add top off and change the salt water with stuff you get from dna? can you give some more info on the tank? lights, flow, rock, sand, clean up crew, fish, etc...

Yeah looks like cyano, I'm battling that right now and I get little patches of it here and there. I have been using a little toothbrush and a turkey baster to remove it from the tank when it pops up as well as regular water changes. My tank is only a couple months old so it may be cycling still? I would try to remove as much as you can by hand until you figure out the root cause. :)

I tried to ride it out and let it take care of itself naturally and slowly remove it with a siphon hose, but it wouldn't ever go away and was starting to kill the edges of some of my corals. I finally used a chemical method (I will have to check which one is was) and it killed all my cyano in 2 days and didn't hurt any of my corals. Its been a month now and there is still no cyano.
