i have talked to them and thay are sending me one to try out for a time . after i check it out i will give a report. it looks like it will be posable to choke back the electric on the pumps and save the electric and stop chokeing back the water with a gate valve and wasteing all the power.

http://www.p2flow.com/ check it out

Cool idea and cool gadget but wondering if it would be better to just get a correctly size pump to begin with. [smilie=lol.gif]

Cheers,

good point, that is what we all want to do but as you know we keep adding eqimt. and such changing and treeking on the tanks and live with a pump that is to small or put a gate valve on and choke down a pump that is to big. come on bro admit you have a valve choking down a pump that is to big for your systim. i am looking at a systim the will shrink and grow with your systim . [IE ]i have a systim and the pump is perfect no prob. right? now i want to add reacters for media or a close loop systim or water change systim or just ture the pump down but not off for feeding or what ever . it is a much better way of controling your flow. and the price it around 300.00 for the unit we need . that price on the web is for a unit that will run booster pumps in a buiding .

Yep...you are correct, I do have my return pump valved down. [smilie=lol.gif] However(you knew that was coming), I chose a Dart pump that is designed to use less wattage when valved back... unlike many pumps on the market. It supplies a manifold that feed the chiller, reactors etc., and can shrink or grow with a system also which is the #1 reason I switched from an Ehiem pump to the external Dart pump. I know you are rich and all bro but $300 is a lot of beer. [smilie=rofl.gif] I'm very interested in how this works with the pumps we use in the hobby, so make sure you keep us updated cause you know I like new gadget's. [smilie=clapping.gif] Curious.... what pump you plan to use this with, I don't remember what you use for a return pump.

Cheers,

It will run any three stage pump . I may be wrong but it was my understanding that you can choke back a pump such as yours and it runs fine( as it will run the same rpm and don't bog the moter but it still runs the same electric ) when I get the sample unit I will run tests to see just how much eiec we can save. Hay ! You want to help? If so maybe you can cut all the power in your house but the return pump and tell me how much you run in 10 min or something like that ? How is a good man with this stuff? Let's get him in on this . I still have to find a three phase pump and fine out how to hook it up

This is just a simple VFD drive I install and program these things all day long! The problem is they don't work for our pumps the winding in our pumps can't handle fq changing and will burn up before u wake up in the morning! I can bet u my while pay check on that! Most motors can't handle fq changes and will overheat the windings and burn the pump up also alot of the impeler designs can't pump correctly at lower than designed speeds! Just my .02

Thanks , are pumps arnt three stage pumps , are thay? When I get the unit can you hook it to a three stage pump for me and you look like you know what your
talking about . Will it work with a three stage ? And were would I get a three stage that will pump about 1500 gph and be salt water comparable

here is the email,,,,,,,,,,Hello Eric,

Thank you for calling and for your interest in innovative equipment controls. Attached is information detailing our product IC Pump Station.
Also attached is a photo of the 1/2 HP Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). As you can see from the pen next to it for scale it's very compact and mounts on a DIN rail. The knob on the front adjusts the motor speed. Your cost is $224.00 - less than I thought.
The VFD can be used stand-alone or with the IC Pump Station control. The IC Pump Station control provides a pressure feedback control and safety shutoffs. You set a "target" pressure and the pump motor speeds up or slows down (or stops if needed) to maintain the desired pressure.
A minimum discharge pressure must be maintained at all times which will detect a plugged impeller and shut off the pump and (optionally) turn on a light, buzzer or even activate an auto-dialer to alert maintenance personnel.
As a dealer we will sell the 1/2 HP VFD + IC Pump Station control unit for $995.00. We can offer further discounts with larger quantities. Please specify the pressure range desired. 0.25.0, 0-100 and 0-200 PSI are the most common ranges and they're all the same price.
That's all I can think of for now. Don't hesitate to call or e-mail if you have any questions. We look forward to serving all of your water pump control needs.

and here is the last email,,,,,,,,,,,
Hello Eric,

Just a note to say that we have shipped the VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) only that controls the motor speed from the knob on front of the unit. Fully counter-clockwise = off and fully clockwise = fully on.

The Fedex tracking #: 0145 3651 0077 124.
Please accept this unit at no charge or obligation.
as this is a slightly used unit we had "kicking around" the shop we thought would make a good demonstration unit.
Please note that when "plugged in" the motor will not start unless you press the RUN/STOP button. If there is a power outage one must also press the RUN/STOP button to re-start the motor.
If you would like the unit to start when the power is applied that can be done also. Please advise which mode of operation would be best for your application.
The addition of the IC Pump Station control unit allows the VFD to respond maintain a constant pump discharge pressure plus it provides safety shutoffs should the impeller get plug or a major leak develops.
I think that covers everything for now. Don't hesitate to call or e-mail if you have any questions. We look forward to serving all of you water pump control needs.

ok , after talking to silveradobobby we think it will work if we can get the wright pump. now if any of you can find a pump LMK . i will be hitting my normal honts and see what we can find. i am asking for your help becouse this is new for our tanks and cost is allways #1 in our harts and i would like to get it all for as cheep as pos. now, the pump we need is a 1/2 hp 3 phase pump with non corosive constrution that will pump up to about {40g per min } or around {2500g per hour} this pump with the vfd will run a tank from 30g to 550g and only use the electric it needs to pump that manny gal, . so far i have found the systim will cost about 500.00 with pump and controler. i think we can do better with some shopping.

ok, silveradobobby is backing up a bit . he wants to hold off til the unit comes in to say if it will work or not so letts hold off on the shopping till it comes in .

gor the unit in. all the conections look like it will work. will hopfuly hook up with silveradobobby this week end

ok, it will work. buuuuut it will run 9 amps all the time so it is only good for the larger tanks 450gal and up . now it will run a 1/2 hp 220v 3 phase pump at 9 amps and it plugs in to standard 110v plug in every home and converts that power to 220v to run a 220 pump that can handle the diferant speeds . now it will not save electric but you can adjust the flow to any amount you want and you can wire your lights to it so you can get a lower flow at night and higher flow at day aotomaticly and turn it down with a nob for feeding and such. my hope was to get better pump control with less elec. but the best we can do is better control with the same elec in larger tanks and more elec in smaller tanks.
to summerize
in a larger tank ,around 450g plus this unit will give much better pump control with lots of little pluses and no added elec
in a smaller tank 450g or less you can get the added control but it will cost you more in elec to run than the pump you would run normaly
conclution
at 250.00 per unit plus a new pump that will work with it we will be paying around 500.00 (pricy)
if you need a new pump the cost isnt bad. a extra 150.00 to 250.00
if i had a 450g plus would i get this? (YES)
do i think we need this (NO)
is this a neet little gaget with benifits for our live stock (YES)
to the one or two people folowing this thanks for your interest and as allways i will continue to look for new tec to better the hobby and are little frends homes thanks all.
