Some pics of our 55 gallon (early stages)

I finally got around to resizing some of our pics and wanted to share. These pics are from the earlier months in our tank and because I hadn't educated myself well at this point we lost a few things. Mainly the ones my wife loved the most

I'm guessing you lost the carnation coral and the suncoral. There's a good article on non-photosynthetic coral husbandry here if you're interested. Sounds like you're getting more informed, so keep up the good work.

Oddly enough all of our carnations are thriving. We didn't know much about the carnation when we bought it, but quickly read about the need for food for them. We feed it all of the time and both the orange ones and the red one extends their polyps when hungry. We have had the red one for almost 7 months now. We ended up giving the sun coral away because we were having a massive battle with hair algae for a while and I felt that all of the extra food we had to feed it contributed to the problem. With the person we gave it to I know it is being well taken care of.

After 10 months of having it and trying to take good care of it we did finally end up losing the carnation coral. I am going to try to resize some pics today and update our tank. I just finished cleaning the tank yesterday and changed the actinic bulbs in our fixture, and wow what a difference it made. I think the new actinics are a different color blue than the last ones because it really makes so many of the corals pop more and I can't wait to show some of them off. We also have the 36 gallon bowfront well set-up and a 10G mantis tank I will be showing pictures of, but I think I will start a thread for those 2 in the nano tanks section.

Time for some updated pics. I just finished resizing and uploading quite a few of our pictures so I though I would share.
