I know the DIY giants (Home Depot and Lowe's) carry red oak stock, but I wouldn't go so far as say it's priced well. They do, however, carry red oak veneered ply for about $35 a sheet IIRC.
There is a lumber place in Grand Prairie a bit off of 360 and Post & Paddock. I believe its on Great Southwest parkway just north of Post & Paddock. It used to be called Hogans, but I believe they have had a name change. They will have what ever you need from veneer plywood to solid lumber. The prices are reasonable.
Just as an FYI Rea Oak when using a stain on it be very careful because the grain will start to look like vains and the wood can start to crack. so be sure to seal it well with a small amount of sanding sealer before hand.
