So how would you buy your fish ?

I have a 105 Oceanic Reef setup( over flow, durso drain) leading into a 29 gallon/ refugium, with a Coralife 125 skimmer, culpera, cheato, mangroves, live rock, and live sand, witha return mag 9.5. Water movement is one seio 1100, and seio 620. This is going to be a reef set up primarly with soft corals and few sps. I want for sure a yellow tang, blue hippo tang, and copper banded butterfly. Will these guys fight if I dont add them at the same time ? Suggestions for other fish ? I was thinking about having few fish, but they would be larger almost like pets. This is just a plan, as of now I dont even have water in the tank, and plan to have a 4 week cycle.

Order your fish for saltwaterfish.com, exoticfish.com, or petsolutions.com. They usually have a gurantee so if your fish does die, you can replace them.

By the way, the yellow tang should be the very last fish you should add to your tank. It's very agressive.

None of the fish you listed are hard to get. I would say buy at a local lfs so you can see the fish before purchase. I would say add the Yellow Tang last, since it is the most aggressive of the 3 fish listed.

Look real hard at the Australian Scotts Fairy Wrasse, the exquisite, or the lineatus (sp).

Everyone's got their own opinion, but mine would be to purchase locally... You can see the actual specimen you'll be getting, and it helps to build a relationship with a LFS...

I haven't found much difference in price for those fish locally or online. I got a CBB for $25 from petland. I see YT in LFS for 19-25 bucks. BLue tangs do seem to be cheaper online, but you have to pay shipping.

I agree I have never bought a fish online and do not think i ever would. Not knocking it, I would just rather see exactly what i am getting.

.... what they said ....

I preferred to buy online since there is a 14 day warranty with it. I usually get free shipping when I purchase $80.00 at Saltwaterfish.com and $200 at exoticfish.com, $225 at liveaquaria.com.

I usually don't buy any of my fish at lfs since they don't have a gurantee policy.

i never order any fish online, but with this weather like this, how the fish is gonna survive? it will be death by the time it gets to your door. and one more thing, you have to be at home and wait for your shipment, kinda pain in the rear.

It is probably best to buy from the LFS so you can watch the fish for a few days, make sure he is eating and at least appears to be ick free. However, I have had pretty good luck with saltwaterfish.com. They pack their livestock well, Styrofoam cooler with an icepack double bagged in what I presume was oxygen. No casualties so far. One Orangeback Basslett I got from them has nearly tripled in size, and as Tri mentioned, there IS the 14 day guarantee.
