Snail ID?

Anyone have any idea what type of snail this is and is it reef safe?

looks like a sundial snail they eat zoas i would look for more andremove them

Yep, that's the one. He came in on a rock of Zoas from an LFS as a hitch hiker.

Sundail snails can be a real pain. Pick through the tank with a fine tooth combe if you put the coral in the tank before finding this guy. I went through a battle with sundials, and they're awful.

Known zoa muncher. Hunt them at night when your corals are closed. The good news is they are sexual reproducers and if you can eliminate any one particular sex, they are guaranteed to die out. I was gifted a few of these as well. They can be quite small so keep a sharp eye out for them.

Thanks for all the advice. This was the only one I found on the rock, so I'm pretty sure I'm clear.

check at night as they seem to hide during the day (near the zoas though)

Definitely keep checking. I saw one on some zoas at an LFS this weekend & told the guy when he walked by so he could pick it off.
