snail babies

well I went to feed my wifes nano tank an acrylic cube 12x12x12 its been going for well over a year now and today I seem to have had a snail spawn there were about 80 snails on the glass about the size of a large mustard seed maybe a tad bit bigger i dont think these are the standard ones that come in a bag of live sand i havent seen them on the glass until today they look just like margerita snails could my snails have bred and reproduced ?

I frequently have baby snails ...

My margarita snails have never reproduced, but the baby turbo snails look like them (smooth) ... they never make it ... I see these for a few weeks at most. A couple dozen of these can dwindle down fast.

Nassarius babies can be white/grey or tan/yellow and a handful of these will make it.

The ones that do the best and seem to avoid becoming someones lunch are the Cerith snails ... as they stay on the sand or glass.

The other always wonder up the rock and the acropora crab love them.

Post a pic, I would love to see what you have.

I hope you don't have the little white ones I have they are everywhere! All over my back glass, rocks and even some of my coral.

My stomatella snails reproduce regularly. I never put any in they hitch hiked in on something and now I have probably 30 or so. They seem to be the only ones that successfully reproduce in my tank.

here's hoping they are a spawn of the larger snails, but more likely they are just Collonista snails, and will stay that small. its hard to tell when they are tiny what type it is - if they are juveniles they will grow up and then you can tell. if they never grow up, mostly come out when the lights are off, and stay near the bottom of the tank they are likely Collonista snails.

I love my stomatellas. I just don't love the little white ones but I have cut back on my frozen food and upped the seaweed since my 6 tangs make sure there's no leftovers of that!
