Skimmer

I have a Euro Reef RS100 and I've read on the forum somewhere of people not running their skimmer at times.

I thought the skimmer was something you ran all the time. Should you not run the skimmer sometimes?

Also, I've ran my skimmer for about 2 weeks after putting live rock in and it's collected a little bit of junk and it had some good amounts of foam peaking the top, now it's been a few days and no more junk in the collection cup and no sign of foam. Do I need to dial it more or is it tuned, just not anything to pick up?
