Skimmer suggestion...

Today I took some extra cardboard I had and made a mock up sump to fit in my 50G corner bow front. I needed a visual to use so I can see the bigger picture and get a better idea of how I want things to be laid out. So my question is what skimmer is recommend for a reef setup for a 50G? I'd like to look at a few and see how big the foot print is to better place baffles. Also it will have to be an in sump skimmer as there is literally only 1/4 inch gap all around from the stand sides. Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

Reef Octopus skimmers are one of the best IMO.

Bubble Magus is second.

How big is your skimmer section? If you have a big enough, wide enough section I would get the RO 4" Pinwheel skimmer. Dimensions 10 x 6.75 x 19.75" Add an extra half inch to the height to remove the collection cup. Needs to be, IIRC, 7" of water minimum

Here is a rough sketch of how I made the mock up.

Look at itech skimmers they have skimmers where the pump sits inside the skimmer body plus they are great skimmers

Had I evvvvver known setting up a corner bow front would be such a pain in the arse I would of just sold this setup long ago and gotten a RR tank and build my own stand :p

If considering reef octopus also look at 'pacific coast' skimmers (they are both the same thing, but rebranded- plus the pacific coast ones cost less.

I just got a recirculating pacific coast one and it is built very well and can handle any kind of bioload that I throw at my tank (plus recirculating might work best for you for limited space as you can mount the feeding pump somewhere else to manage your space. Mine is fed by a mini-jet 606 that's literally the size of a half-dollar bill).

What pump did it come with last time i checked they were using older less efficient skimmer pumps
