Skimmer overflowing

I have a Sealife skimmer that has been working great for several months and apparently years with the previous owner. Until today when it began overflowing with a very wet and clear output. Enough to fill up a gallon jug and spill over after that in a short while.

It's running with a Mag 9.5 which I just replaced; and the water level is correct in the skimmer. I don't see or understand any way to adjust the output in these. The only thing I could think of for now was to limit the air intake by kinking the air line temporarily.

I haven't used any additives recently except for kalkwasser from a drip box. Anyone have any knowledge about this problem?

Thanks,

Eric,
How's the Bubble production of the skimmer? from how you're describing it, it sounds like your air:water ratio is off and you're not injecting enough air into the skimmer.
Pictures would be a great help here if you can get some.

Have you changed the type of food lately? I recently started to use a club member's homemade fish food, the fish love it but man it makes my skimmer go crazy! I get the same type of skimmate for a couple of hours.
Just a thought.

What kind of skimmer is a sealife skimmer. i'm not familiar with it. If it has some form of a gate value, I would open it up more to allow more water flow out of the skimmer.

The only change I've made recently is replacing the pump with an identical one. Excellent bubble output. Too good I guess because I have to cut the air flow down to eliminate the overflow.

There are no valves of any sort or height adjustment of the cup. The water level is right where it should be. There is a water level mark about 12" up and when I eliminate the air input entirely it settles to the mark just right.

There is probably an easy solution it's just not showing itself. Quite a mystery to me right now and I'm going out of town for two weeks and leaving care to my wife. She's good for the basics but after that who knows. I'll try to get some pics.

Thanks
