skimmer HELP HELP PLEASE

I believe I have sealife skimmer that i bought used it has no water line that i understand many do and I am having a real problem with adjustments. Were should the bubbles start at the bottom of the canister tube? the top? PLEASE HELP I am having to empty my trickle can daily sometimes overflowing.... also does it matter if the water flow coming back out the skimmer is submerged or should be pouring out?? Thanks

Hi,

From your pic it looks like you have the skimmer in the return area. That area is not where you want a skimmer since the level fluctuates with the evaporation. Try placing it in the area where the tank drains into your sump/fuge so that the water level remains constant. The water line on these skimmers are ~1" up the neck. If you split the skimmer in 3 sections, the body, neck and cup you can figure out the area I'm talking about. Set the water level then adjust the riser pipe to fine tune for wet or dry skimming. HTH

Cheers,

I have the same skimmer on my 55 in the Sump and in my return section as well ( I know, it's a No-no). I have the bubbles starting about 1 1/2" above the water line. I skim a bit wet on the tank since it's a softies/overflow tank. the Skimmate is dark green but more than I'd typically pull and not quite as thick. it's a quick put together setup running with a CAP1800 pump
