Skimmer gone nuts

I did several frags yesterday and about an h our later my skimmer had overflowed my one gallon milk jug and into the 5 gallon bucket I have it setting in. Never hurts to be safe with a double back-up on the overflow. How long should I leave the skimmer off? Hell I don't have any fish in there anyway, maybe I should stopp skimming completely andjust skim once a week. Comments-suggestions glady accepted.
 
could also be something as simple as your hand being in the water, maybe there was a residue on your hands or just the oils if you did a bunch of frags
 
It has finally settled down. I have adjusted it so that it is barely foaming and may leave it off for the night and while I am at work tomorrow. Not much to skimm from a fallowed tank. :sad:
