Skimmer, ATO & RODI Recommendations

Anyone have recommendations for the best Skimmer, ATO system and RODI filtration system? Skimmer needs to handle up to 150g capacity.

What are you planning on stocking fish wise and what kind of corals are you wanting? For the ATO I would recomend a JBJ or autotopoff.com, for a skimmer you could go downdraft or a newer style. If you want SPS or plan on having a bunch of fish one of the ETSS might be a better idea. As far as RO units-so long as it reads 0TDS I like it. I bought a cheap RO with DI and use higher end filters and it works well.

Thanks, do you know of a good place to source skimmers or RODI systems? Where do you purchase filters?
Currently have a 60 gallon, but want to upgrade to 120 or 150. Currently have Sailfin, Chromis (x3) and a sixline wrasse. Want to eventually add a Mandarin Goby, Naso tang, 3-4 lyretail anthias and a possibly a choc mimic (hence the need for a bigger system). The Anthias require so much feeding that I really need a good skimmer. Other stuff is just nice to have. Corals, I like both SPS and LPS. Right now I mostly have zoas, polys and softies but would likely expand with a larger tank.

Check the sponsor section for your hardware needs. You can get a RO system from Marc or BRS. I prefer Premium Aquatics for most of my mailorder stuff since they have such great customer service and they will price match other online retailers. Also check the group buy section. You can get some good deals there. I believe their is a BRS group buy currently going on.

For an ATO, I have the Tunze's and they are great.

Well, I did ask for source, but that is not really what I meant to ask. I am looking more for recommendations on the top one or two brand and model / size of skimmer for this size tank given that I will be doing a lot of feeding with the fish I want to keep. There are so many choices, looks like a lot of people use Euro reef and Reef Octopus brands, but I am not sure what size/model is best. There are so many choices out there it is a bit overwhelming. High costs, make the trial and error route less appealing. Finding a place to buy will be easy when I figure out what I am looking for.

Super Reef 2000 by Reef Octopus is 1 of your better choices for the $$$. Many seem to be happy with them. I own an SWC 180 Xtreme Cone and I'm very happy with mine as well. Had a Reef Octopus before (older model) which was good as well, but the Super Reef models have the Bubble Blaster Pump which is very good. It has a wonderful 3 yr warranty. If your looking to spend top $$$ you have skimmers such as Bubble King which are top of the line.

+1

What about those AVAST marine skimmers? Lots of cool options with the swabbie and recirc. Anyone have experience? I would like to DIY that cone one. And they have the ATO that plugs right into the Apex.

avast skimmer is actually really good skimmer per mojo on r2r.

the octopus has a swabbie too
